Fertility and Maternity Reflexology

Fertility / Preconception

As many as 1 in 6 couples have trouble conceiving and have to seek medical assistance. This can be both stressful and expensive. Fertility Reflexology can work in a number of ways to assist natural conception.

My husband and I had difficulties with conception for two years and were waiting on a referral for further investigations by the fertility clinic. However the waiting was very long and I thankfully became pregnant naturally, this was achieved after two months using a combination of Fertility foot Reflexology treatments once a week, hand Reflexology techniques applied on a daily basis along with the 100% essential oil cream blend specifically tailored for Fertility, eating healthily which contained organic fruit and vegetables and exercising on a regular basis, I also did some yoga and meditation for relaxation. I also charted my temperature on a daily basis so I could pin point ovulation to give the best chance for success.

I really understand the frustration that comes with the long wait for the fertility clinic to progress further and the disappointment of yet another month not being successful with conception, I really understand the anger, the jealousy of others, blaming yourself and thinking you don’t deserve to be a mum and this must be a punishment, people not understanding you and feeling alone. You are not alone, I have been there, I understand and hope to support you as best I can.

Stress has been shown to have a major impact to the balance of hormones in the body of both men and women. Hormonal imbalance has been shown to adversely affect fertility. Reflexology has been shown to be an effective treatment to reduce stress and so help restore hormonal balance in the body. Although reflexology cannot claim to be a cure for infertility, many couples have found it an effective treatment on their journey to having a baby.

Reflexology can support men & women with their fertility planning, whether the aim is to improve general health, introduce relaxation time to reduce stress levels or to address specific medical health issues.

I have undertaken specialist Fertility Reflexology training and use this in combination with Chinese Acupressure points in order to support you in your conception journey. During the treatments I work on the endocrine (hormonal) system and can support couples with particular health issues that can affect fertility, such as:

  • Stress – which can have an adverse effect on hormonal balance and fertility
  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Low/Poor sperm mobility or morphology
  • Fibroids
  • Polycystic ovaries
  • Endometriosis
  • Irregular menstrual cycle
  • and can also improve any other underlying conditions which may affect fertility in both men and women

Reflexology can also be used to support individuals or couples who are undergoing assisted conception including Clomid, IUI, IVF or ICSI.

Maternity reflexology can be used throughout your pregnancy and can help you relax deeply and connect with your baby.

  • during the first stage of labour and
  • straight after your delivery to help with low mood, tiredness, to restore balance and enhance physical and emotional well-being after the birth of your baby.

Reflexology is safe throughout pregnancy. However, there are certain conditions which are contraindications to treatment which include: pre-term labour, history of miscarriage, placenta praevia (low-lying placenta), hydroamnios (excess amniotic fluid around the baby after 32 weeks gestation), women with a risk of pre-eclampsia or women with a risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
